Rules  

You may choose to debate against any person(s) on the register, preferably of the opposite sex. Email your challenge to dmilnes@kgv.edu.hk. 

One – on – One Duels:  (Singles Duels)

1.     Each speaker offers 2 five-minute speeches;

2.     No points of information during first minute of either speech; then points of information from opponent only during first speech;

3.     Time bell after 4 ½ minutes;

4.     During second five-minute speech points of information may be offered from the opponent and from the floor.

Two – on – Two Duels   (Doubles Duels)

1.     Each speaker offers 2 four-minute speeches.

2.     No points of information during first minute of either speech; points of information from opponents only during first speech;

3.     Time bell after 3 ½ minutes.

4.     During second four-minute speech points of information may be offered from the opponent and from the floor.

Awards

Each debater gets one debating point for his/her house.

Winning debater gets 3 debating points for his her house.

These points will be added at end of year and reformulated into official House Points.

At the end of the year top duellists will debate for the title of debating duellist of the year and a prize of HMV gift tokens.
